I built a robot that attacked a US congressman and a sex worker
What do a US Congressman, a pro golfer and a phone sex operator have in common? They have all been victims of a robot hitman.
While I’m a terrible speller I’m also a pedant when it comes to the english language. One thing I hate above all else is when people say “expresso”. The word is “espresso”, with an ‘s’. So I decided to do something about it.
Hundreds of people misspell espresso every hour on Twitter. From kids in college and office workers to top flight politicians and TV presenters.
In response I built a simple robot. Twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week my robot monitors twitter for people who misspell espresso. It selects people to reply to, letting them know the error of their ways. It never tweets the same person twice, and it’s never rude.
The results of this project are both hilarious and scary. While some people find the robot funny, others react with anger and hatred.
